Terri Brien Interiors’ mission as a Southern California interior designer is to create homes that support the rhythm of everyday life while elevating it through thoughtful detail, layered materials, and a warm, collected aesthetic.
Our vision is to design homes that feel effortless, inviting, and naturally aligned with how people live. We aim to bring a warm ambience into each client’s home through a layered and intentional design approach. Our experience and organized process ensure the journey feels smooth and well-supported from start to finish, helping clients make confident choices that reflect their lifestyle. The goal is to create spaces that feel deeply comfortable and enriching, shaped by thoughtful design and a natural understanding of how a home should support daily life.
“Beautifully designed! Terri listens as a designer. She was able to pick up on what I like and even presented me with options I never would have considered on my own. She was also incredibly timely, communicative, and organized with her presentation. I trusted her and I love the design she gave me. Elegant and welcoming."
Designing homes throughout Southern California means understanding how varied the region truly is. From the established neighborhoods of Newport Beach and Corona del Mar to the artistic energy of Laguna Beach and the relaxed charm of Dana Point and San Clemente, each area brings its own character. What connects them is a shared appreciation for thoughtful design, natural light, and homes that feel welcoming and elevated rather than overworked.
Our days often start the same way many of our clients’ do. A great cup of coffee before meetings, sometimes at places like Coffee Dose, where playful design details meet genuinely good coffee, or a stop at Rye Goods for pastries that are worth lingering over. These small rituals reflect how Southern Californians live, intentionally but without fuss.
In Laguna Beach, inspiration often comes from simply slowing down. Taking in the coastline from The Rooftop Lounge is a reminder of how light, texture, and view shape the way a space feels. In San Clemente, a stroll along Del Mar, ducking in and out of local shops, or sharing a flatbread at Rancho Capistrano Winery captures the easy, walkable lifestyle that so many homeowners value.
Design inspiration beyond the home
Design inspiration in Southern California isn’t limited to interiors. We often look to cultural and architectural spaces that celebrate form, material, and craftsmanship. A visit to the Noguchi Garden offers a masterclass in balance, texture, and restraint. Time spent at the Bowers Museum reminds us how history and art inform thoughtful design. And a stroll down Cedros Avenue, known for its creative shops and studios, reinforces the value of spaces that feel collected rather than overly curated.
Designing homes across Southern California requires an understanding of how people live, not just how spaces look. Our work focuses on thoughtful planning, layered details, and interiors that feel personal and lived in, never overdone. Whether we’re guiding a renovation, new construction, or furnishing project, the goal is always the same. A home that functions beautifully and feels considered at every turn.
If you’re planning a project anywhere in Southern California and value a clear and guided process, we’d love to connect. Each project begins with a conversation about how you live and what matters most in your home.
